• alpha Kappa Delta Phi, Inc., was founded February 7, 1990, at University of California Berkeley by 14 women dedicated to establishing a strong and lasting organization, which would provide Asian-American women the opportunity to participate in the Greek system. The founding sisters brought together a diverse group of women who shared with them the goals of sisterhood, scholarship, and leadership which have created the foundation for the organizations purpose.

• Kappa Delta Chi, Inc., was founded on April 6, 1987 at Texas Tech University. The organization was founded by four young women who attended Texas Tech University with the vision to create something so special and unique that would leave a legacy for others who followed while also promoting leadership amongst Hispanic women at the university.

• Lambda Phi Epsilon was founded on February 25, 1981, at UCLA. The goal of the founders was to transcend the limitations faced by traditional Asian-interest organizations on campus. While these organizations were often split along lines of national origins, the founders sought an establishment that drew its membership equally from the different segments of the Asian American community. Their vision was that the members would eventually become the leaders of their respective ethnic communities, and thus, bridge the gaps fragmenting the Asian American community through their affiliation with a common organization.

• Phi Iota Alpha, Inc., was founded on December 26, 1931, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The purpose of the organization was to create a strong and extensive Fraternity to address the needs of Latin American in universities in the U.S.

• Sigma Psi Zeta, Inc., was founded on March 23rd, 1994, at the University at Albany, State University of New York on March 23, 1994. Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. is a progressive, multicultural Greek Organization that provides a means to success and support for womxn, particularly womxn of color.

New members come into KUMGC through a process called "Membership Intake." A student interested in engaging with members is encouraged to attend “MGC week”. MGC week consists of events centered on service, social, and educational programming. It is also an opportunity for students to meet all the chapters and get more information and ask direct questions to those members.

Each organization conducts Intake at different times. When a chapter begins its membership intake program, it will publicize the initial events in what is called recruitment week(s). Interested students should attend these events in order to get the specific details on the requirements to join and meet the members. Each organization in MGC has its own membership requirements that are in addition to KU institutional requirements. 

The recruitment and intake processes and timelines for each chapter vary, so it is important to find out what each individual organization’s membership requirements are, in addition, the institutional eligibility requirements.
